Stephanie Larty - DanceShed Owner

The girl behind the brand

Hi I’m Steph and I am the owner and one of the Dance Teachers at Dance Shed!

I started dancing from a very young age! ( just 3 in fact!) I started doing Tap, Ballet, Modern and Irish Dance. It was something i always loved to do and carried on dancing right through my teenage years. When I turned 18 I realised I wanted to turn my passion into a career and successfully auditioned for Northern Ballet School. I trained there for three years gaining Intermediate and Advanced levels in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance as well as a National Diploma in Dance.

After leaving Northern Ballet School I went on to perform in various U.K Tours, Pantomimes and Large Scale Corporate Events. In-between these contracts I began teaching all ages and all styles of dance as I knew it was something I was passionate about.

During this time I also furthered my Dance Education by turning my Diploma into a degree and qualified with a B.A. Hons in Dance Teaching.

I then decided to take my career overseas and went to work onboard the Costa Cruiseline traveling around Asia performing in their onboard production shows. After returning to the U.K I carried on my performance work in the form of circus skills, stilt walking and fire breathing as well as a dancer at the Birdcage Cabaret Venue in Manchester. During this time I began teaching for Babyballet Bury and Bolton, and loved every minute of it! When moving back to Chester I realised i could not give it up so decided to open Babyballet Chester and Wrexham! BabyBallet allows me to see young children grow into little dancers and I can't let them go, thats why DanceShed Chester was born!

Little fun fact: When I was 13 my mum gave me the option to choose between a Pony or Dance lessons.... I chose Dance!

DanceShed began as an upper school for Babyballet Chester, Wrexham, Mold & Buckley,

We like to bring the same mentality to our upper school as we did with Babyballet, a fun yet structured class, instilling a love of dance into everyone that attends!

We originally set out to just offer Ballet and Tap feeder classes to those too old for the Babyballet syllabus anymore, however having had such a great response from people we decided to open it up to a wider range of classes and ages.

We like to think DanceShed is accessible to anyone, whether its someone wanting to get serious about dance or someone just there for the fun and social aspects, we are sure you will fit right into our family! And with Performances, exams, parties and competitions ahead of us we are sure we will keep things exciting, fun and busy! We never stop!
